Unnat Bharat Abhiyan,AISSMS COE Pune-01, is organizing Swayamsiddh Hackathon. to generate platform for all business / startup enthusiasts to present their problems as well as solutions and actually implement them in various rural areas. The main aim of this hackathon is to identify all types of problems and provide technical support in all possible ways which will lead to development of the rural areas and also employement as well as various other opportunities for students and the society. The Mission of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is to enable higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth. It also aims to create a virtuous cycle between society and an inclusive academic system by providing knowledge and practices for emerging professions and to upgrade the capabilities of both the public and the private sectors in responding to the development needs of rural India. In accordance with this aim Swayamsiddh Hackathon comprises of the following themes.
Agriculture is the important sector of our nation. It is the primary source of livelihood. For development of rural/urban areas Agricultural growth is necessary. India’s most of the population depends on agriculture. Practices should be done to design and develop the devices for enhancing the agricultural sector and help to enrich the lives of rural society.
With a continuously increasing demand, water is becoming scarcer with time both in the rural areas as well as the urban areas. Mostly, it is due to the lack of water management systems and exploitation of water resources. The problems of pollution from municipal sewage, industrial effluents, agrochemicals and pesticides have further threatened the availability of good quality water.
With an increasing population and increasing demand for fuels, the fossil fuels such as petrol, diesel, etc. are getting scarce day by day thus leading to a need for usage of renewable sources of energy. Unfortunately, these sources of energy are not popularly used and a lot of population is unaware about these sources. The damage that we have caused to earth after the industrial revolution is huge and we will have to take action immediately if we want to keep the planet sustainable for the future generations. The biggest leap that mankind can take to prevent further damage is to start using alternative energy sources.
One of the blunders that India has committed is to ignore the artisans and rural industries in planning process for development. No country, particularly the industrialized ones, has achieved that status without making their artisans as an important part of the process and making their rural industries as the base for modern industrialization. However, the application of science and technology in industry through the practitioners who are none other than the artisans and the technicians coming from the traditional sector. There has to be a proper synergy and complementarity of the two. This is really missing in India. There is a huge scope to bring that in through start-ups and entrepreneurship.
In India, there is a huge problem related to healthcare. With an increasing surge in the diseases and mortality rate, healthcare has become a big challenge in urban as well as rural areas. There is a need to ensure that medical devices produce maximum public health benefits at affordable costs in all intended settings. The overarching values of universality, access to good quality care, equity and safety are the factors that need to be delivered.
A good quality healthcare and affordable biomedical devices available not only to a specific population but all the people in the nation is the need of the hour. All types of ideas in this aspect are welcomed and will surely be given a higher weightag.
Fast growth of the Indian economy in recent years has placed increasing stress on physical infrastructure, such as electricity, railways, roads, ports, airports, irrigation, water supply, and sanitation systems, all of which already suffer from a substantial deficit. There is a great need to overcome this stress and to make the country – a better place.
Empowerment includes the action of raising the status of women through education, raising awareness, literacy and training. Women empowerment is the pivotal part in any society, state or country. Women have been facing various social problems like dowry system, illiteracy, sexual harassment, inequality, female infanticide, domestic violence, rape, prostitution, illegal trafficking and other issues at very young age. Women from all over the country including all rural areas need to be empowered. Women should be given equal rights, respect in society and the patriarchy should be shut down.
There are different types of people who always need education and training for improvement of their self as well as the community / organization. Since there are different groups and types of people, they have different education and training needs. Their education needs are for information, for skills or for change in attitudes. There is a need to improve the literacy rate of the country through various innovative ideas which will surely be helpful for a developing nation like India.
